New Brunswick, New Jersey — The American Studies Department of Rutgers University in New Jersey has announced that the Garifuna people will be the ethnic group whose history, heritage, culture and folk traditions will be celebrated through food, music and craft demonstrations at The 2013 New Jersey Folk Festival; which will take place on SATURDAY April 27th 2013 at Rutgers University from 10am to 6pm.

New York City — New York University Associate Professor of Film and Television, Carlos De Jesus has been screening his latest effort, a documentary about the Garifuna ethnic group called GARIFUNA NATION.  Ten years in the making and filled with multiple perspectives, this stirring work is an insightful investigation of contemporary life as a Garifuna.
