Bronx, New York — The 2011 Central American Festival in Crotona Park in the Bronx was part artistic showcase, part political rally and overall a cultural demonstration of the various interests that make up the Central American Community in New York City, with particular focus on the Honduran and Guatemalan Garifuna Communities in New York City. Police estimated the gathered attendees of the 2011 Central American Festival at 3,000 and overall a beautiful, crisp, sunny day set the stage for a beautiful festival. What wound up happening was not as beautiful as expected.
