Newly Discovered Species of Bat Found on Island of St. Vincent Is Named MICRONYCTERIS GARIFUNA

On May 24th 2011, I had come across an article reporting the news that a team of scientists from Texas Tech University discovered that a bat that they had captured during an expedition in St. Vincent in 2005-2006 was found to be a new species of bat (“Buriri” in the Garifuna Language).  They have since named the bat MICRONYCTERIS GARIFUNA after the Garifuna ethnic group and subsequently caused a whole lot of grief.
