Livingston, Guatemala — Was watching various clips on Youtube.com when I came across a VERY interesting video clip. It was a short segment on various Garifuna people in Guatemala being asked if they speak the Garifuna language. The clip also explores the politics involved with knowing the Garifuna Language. The video is in Spanish with English subtitles.

Livingston, Guatemala — Tomas Sanchez of the Garifuna Reality In Livingston “LaBuga” Guatemala blog, recently reported on the garifunalink email listserv that Guatemalan President ALVARO COLOM CABALLEROS met with Garifuna representatives on Wednesday, May 11th 2011 to discuss issues like land rights of the Garifuna People of Guatemala as well as land invasions by other ethnic groups of Garifuna owned lands.
