Belize, Central America – In mid-July, I was happy to see the children’s book by Mali, Ingrid and Ibo Cayetano; “WE ARE FREE: A Story About The Origin Of The Garinagu” arrive in the mail. Vividly illustrated by Garifuna German Mali Cayetano, this book is ideal for those looking to purchase educational and entertaining gifts to those interested in Culture and History of The Garifuna People.

Belize — In a Facebook correspondence with Garifuna German (Her father is Garifuna from Belize and her mother is German) MALI CAYETANO a few weeks back, she told me of her plans to pursue her master’s degree and of her decision to focus on the topic of the musical genre Punta Rock. She is currently in Belize and asked me to help her with some research she is doing. I am sharing what she is looking for in the hopes that readers of Beinggarifuna.com can share what they know of punta rock music with her.
